Panhandle Children's Foundation, Inc. exists to provide assistance to disabled and/or disadvantaged children in a timely and effective manner. The foundation strives to retain both the diversity and flexibility to meet the needs of disabled and/or disadvantaged children in the most efficient manner possible.
Panhandle Children's Foundation benefits children of all ages, infants through teenage. They have a special program directed to young pregnant girls who need assistance. This includes victims of rape, incest, domestic violence, disease, fire and natural disaster or economic situations.
Panhandle Children's Foundation benefits children in Dumas, Etter, Cactus, Sunray, Channing, Amarillo and Borger areas, but distributes services and funds in the respective areas where the funds are raised.
Panhandle Children's Foundation is the current owner of Talon Point, formerly New Beginnings retreat located 16 miles south west of Dumas. The facility will accommodate a kids camp for specific disabilities during the summer months. It is the goal of the Board of Directors to make the necessary improvements to the property which would include an aquatic center, an equestrian center, revitalize the lake and amusement park style train.
Money received from United Way is used to provide needed assistance to the diabled and disadvantaged children in Dumas, Etter, Cactus and Sunray areas.
