Leadership Dumas/Moore County

The third session of Leadership Dumas/Moore County was about Public Safety.  Wednesday, December 8th  schedule of activities  included meeting the Moore County Judge Rowdy Rhoades at 8 am in the Commissioners' Courtroom at the Courthouse.  The group of twelve then moved to the Central Dispatch and Jail where Moore County Sheriff Bo DeArmond gave a tour of the jail.

The group went across the street at 10 am to visit the Police Department and the police staff.  In this part of their morning they were introduce to an overview of City Law Enforcement.  Sgt. Jake Wilkins, Lt. Marvin Trejo and Officer Chase Potter helped in the presentation of self-tactics/SWAT equipment and the class got to meet the Canine Officer.

The Leadership Class arrived at the Fire Department for lunch then toured the Fire Department.  The class members were shown the equipment required to go out on a fire call.  The weight of the fire suit is around 75 lbs and cost $7,000.  Once on there is not one inch of skin showing as demonstrated in the follow pictures.
The pictures above also shows the Fire Chief Paul Jenkins going down the fire pole and then one of the firemen suiting up as if he were going on a call.
