Dumas Satellite Workshop provide training by developing a person centered plan that is individualized and implemented for each client served; it is based on his or her developmental skills and needs. Independent living, academic, vocational, social and self-help skills are some areas covered by each plan. Consumers are train on self-help daily living skills (leisure, recreational, personal care and social). The local board of directors provides volunteer time, funds and other services to assist in the operation of the Dumas facility.
In order to maintain the facility and provide social opportunities for the clients, the local board is responsible for funding rent, utilities, travel and training. At this time Dumas Satellite Workshop continue to lease space from Moore County at East First Street. Supported employment and community services are provided to handicapped adults.
Dumas Satellite Workshop, Inc. is an outreach of Texas Panhandle Mental Health Retardation (TPMHMR).
