Museum/Art Center Open House Last Saturday

Christmas Open House at Window on the Plains Museum and The Art Center was a big success, even though the weather did not do much to cooperate. Over 170 people braved the cold to come enjoy the celebration of Christmas.

Mrs. Santa entertained children during the morning with stories. Most children would climb in her lap to hear her animated stories. Refreshments of hot apple cider, coffee and a variety of breads were served to visitors.
Santa was at the museum during the afternoon to hear Christmas wishes and give gifts to children. A group of violin students of Evan Robertson entertained during the afternoon with carols. The students were Ana Bell Barker, Holly Wilhelm, Gillian Darcy, Cooper Hokanson, Calvin Barker, Deran Running and Emily Wilhelm.
A Members Show and Sale was displayed in The Art Center and featured art work by members of Moore County Art Association. Most of the items were available for sale for Christmas gift giving or home decorating. Refreshments of cookies, candy, punch, hot cider and coffee were served to visitors.
Door prizes were awarded throughout the day.
Decorations at both the museum and The Art Center will remain up through Christmas. Both centers are open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Mrs. Santa reads "Twas the Night Before Christmas" to young museum visitors.

Jolly Old Saint Nick heard Christmas wishes from children Saturday at the Museum/Art Center open house, but this young lady was not too sure!

Wishful Thinking

I sit here writing this post when I should be preparing to go to work....shower, make-up, dressing, etc.
Instead I am sitting here writing a post about how much I wish I could stay home with my dog and two cats.  I want to work, I just don't want to go to work!!  I want all the benefits of working...money, insurance and the feel of accomplishment with a job well done.  I tried not going to work for three years and what it got me was a fun time with my grown son but then reality set in.  Bills, groceries, yada , yada.

I wrote for an online paper and loved it but at last it didn't pay the bills.  But it made me feel like I could do anything.  I want that feeling back.  I want to make money doing something I love.

So time to get ready and one day I will get that feeling back and make money doing it.

A  drive in on-going at the museum to fund the completion of the building.  Donations may be mailed to 1820 S. Dumas Ave.

When the new building is completed, the tractors, combines and other machinery will be moved to that building.  The long-range plans will be to renovate the barn into display area much like the main building of the museum, according to board president, William F. "Bill" Watson.  That part of the plan will begin as funds are available.

Panhandle Business Women in Dumas, Texas had their Annual Scholarship Fundraiser. This fundraiser is done in the form of Bunco Night for the ladies. Each lady supported the fundraiser with a donation of $15 for which the received tickets for prizes, a meal which was a potato bar, then 10 rounds of Bunco. I had never played Bunco before and learned that you roll three dice of which you are hoping to roll a six to keep rolling. Every time you get a six you get a point but if you get three dice that has six on them then you snatch it up before someone else gets one of them. Then you get to say Lucky or Bunco...I think it depends if you are at the head table or something. All I know is you keep rolling till the head table gets one or the other.
